Substance Abuse Prevention
Helping You Overcome Addiction
According to recent statistics, drug overdose deaths have more than tripled in the last 30 years. As many as 20% of Americans who struggle with anxiety or depression also have issues with substance abuse.
Penn Shelton recognizes how closely substance abuse is now related to other issues that we aim to treat. If you or someone you know is struggling with issues related to drug or alcohol abuse, we are here to offer the help that you need.
How Addiction Begins.
Many individuals feel they have no recourse when struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. The "highs" or "buzz" offered by drugs or alcohol may temporarily numb you to the problem. These substances only fade the problem into the background, rather than actually confronting it head on.
Hard drugs pose immediate risk after the use. Those who regularly use drugs or alcohol are more likely to engage in dangerous behaviors that pose risk to their life as well as others. Many who deal with addiction may even recognize that they are dependent, but feel it's their only recourse to deal with their problems.
INTERVENING BEFORE CRISIS OCCURS
If you or someone you know is abusing substances, it's imperative that you seek help immediately. The risk is even greater if the individual is already struggling with mental disorders of any kind. In the cases in which we have an opportunity to intervene, Penn Shelton can help you find solutions.
DON'T TRY TO OVERCOME IT ALONE
We seek to give you the tools you need to deal with life's problems so that you can avoid or break the need for substances as a means of coping. Our team wants to do our part in helping to stop the cycle of drug-related crises and deaths. We encourage you to lean on us in your times of need.
